A monumental renovated space at Prague's main railway station.
Inquire venueThe impressive Fanta Hall, which previously served as a restaurant I. and II. class is named after Josef Fant, one of the most important architects of the Czech Art Nouveau. The monumental space is spanned by a barrel vault with connecting lunettes. Colorful stained glass windows are decorated with the motif of a winged wheel, the symbol of the railway.
Above the windows, there are six narrow fields of the vault separated by distinctive belts, the bases of which are decorated with fields with vegetable decor and masks with royal crowns, the so-called mascarones. The field above the lower windows is again decorated with vegetal decor, and above the upper windows of the first floor niches, which are fitted with masks and festoon motifs. The allegorical masks above the windows represent individual types of human activity, especially of higher social classes, such as medicine or the military.
During the reconstruction, the restorers managed to uncover the gilded national emblem of the First Republic with the inscription "Truth wins" under the layers of paint on the walls. The story of the character is very interesting. After the declaration of independent Czechoslovakia in October 1918, TG Masaryk was to be greeted with this emblem as the first president of Czechoslovakia upon his return from exile. And this despite the fact that the coat of arms was only recognized as official in 1920. The author is unknown. Thanks to the amazing team of the Oliver Braun art and plastering company, led by the chief restorer of the coat of arms, Petr Svoboda, it was possible to restore the coat of arms to its fascinating form today.
The unique hall with a total area of 356 m2 will be used as a multifunctional space for organizing cultural and social events. This magnificent space will enchant you and your guests with its high ceilings, rich historical painting and a replica of the period clock. The hall is lit by original brass pendant lights, which are complemented by adjustable reflectors along the perimeter of the walls.
