Reconstructed premises of the leading and oldest symphony orchestra in the Czech Republic.
The redoubt with adjacent spaces originally served as a dance hall with a balcony of the same width around the entire perimeter of the hall. For the needs of the Philharmonic, a raised podium was built in earlier and the obstructing balcony above the stage was narrowed. A large gilded chandelier hung in the center of the hall.
However, nothing at all survived from the original interiors, so when deciding how to approach the entire reconstruction, the authors could lean towards current trends in architectural restoration. The whole concept of the solution is thus based on a dialogue between the original Empire architecture and the modern concept of the interior.
During the reconstruction in 2001, emphasis was placed on improving the acoustics of the hall, to which the interior was fully adapted. There was also an increase in the number of seats for spectators.
The hall has a spacious foyer on the ground floor, and on the upper floor it functions as an antechamber of the Mozart Hall.
