Strekov Castle

Střekov Castle is one of the most visited cultural monuments in Northern Bohemia and an ideal place for organizing various events.

The Gothic castle is located on a 250 m high steep rock above the Elbe river at the edge of Ústí nad Labem, approximately 90 km north of Prague.

Enjoy the idyllic atmosphere, rich history and especially the views from this castle ruin set on a cliff above the Elbe, which according to Goethe are the most beautiful in Central Europe. Střekov Castle was founded in 1316 during the reign of King John of Luxembourg, the father of the Czech King and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV, and was supposed to serve as a guard and customs station to ensure the safety of the Elbe navigation and the trade route to Germany. It passed into the ownership of the Lobkowicz family in 1563.
